June 1st: 8th Grade Drop-off Materials & Yearbook

8th Grade Collections of Materials: June 1, 2020 (Document Also Attached)

  • District mandated ONLY JUNE 1st for the 8th Grade Drop-off/Pick-up of Materials.
  • Bak has no control over that date. Per the District, this is the ONLY scheduled day and it is for ONLY for 8th Grade Students. No date has been set for 6th or 7th grade students.
  • We are following CDC guidelines (we ask that you wear a mask)
  • Make sure to read and follow the directions provided.
  • Make arrangements to arrive at Bak at the scheduled START TIME with the required materials (per art area).
  • ALL CARS MUST ENTER through the Car Loop located off North Shore Drive & head to the Student Drop-Off/Pick-up Area. You may not enter through the Main Gates.
  • Ensure that you create the NAME IDENTIFICATION paper per the directions below
  • Make sure to bring your child’s I.D. and/or driver’s I.D. You do not have to bring your child (up to you).
  • Look below and gather and prepare materials for return.
  • School property not returned become part of the students’ financial obligations and will follow student through high school.
  • Remain in the car - No one may get out of the car – materials given via window/trunk.
  • School Personnel emptied all lockers – Most 8th grade students cleared out their lockers on March 13th. School personnel disposed of consumable textbooks, returned hardcover textbooks to the Media Center, and packed returnable materials to be returned on June 1st. Important: If students did not register their locker with school personnel and there were no identifiers, material can’t be returned.

    NAME IDENTIFICATION: NEEDED TO MAKE PROCESS RUN SMOOTHLY (example attached):

  • On an 8 ½ x 11 sheet of paper - LANDSCAPE
  • Type (largest font possible) or Clearly Write your Child’s First and Last Name & Art Area
  • Display paper on passenger side window or place on passenger-side front windshield (READY TO DISPLAY)

 When to Arrive (please arrive at your scheduled start time):

  • Band and Strings: 7:30 am
  • Vocal and Piano: 8:30 am
  • Communications: 9:30 am
  • Dance: 11:00 am
  • Theatre: 12:00 pm
  • Visual Arts: 1:00 pm
  • ONLY for Emergencies: 2:00 pm to 2:45 pm

How to Enter: ALL CARS MUST ENTER through the Car Loop located off North Shore Drive

  • Proceed to the Student Drop-Off/Pick-up Area
  • Cars may not enter through the Main Gate

Proceed to Student Drop-off/Pick-up Area 

  • See Below for the Materials that MUST be Returned/Locker Contents will be given (if applicable)
  • All car must go through the drop-off line

Yearbooks (if one was pre-purchased):

  • All car must go through the drop-off line BEFORE going to the bus loop to get a pre-purchased yearbook.
  • Yearbooks will only be given to those 8th students whose names appear on the pre-purchased list.
  • Yearbooks will not be sold at this time.

How to Exit:

  • If NOT picking up a yearbook, EXIT OUT the MAIN GATE.
  • If picking up a yearbook, head towards the Main Gate (do not exit) and make the FIRST RIGHT to head towards the BUS LOOP – follow the road.
  • Get yearbook and Exit out the bus loop gate – make a right and then another right onto PINEHURST Drive.

What Students Need to Return on June 1, 2020:

  • PREPARATION: Place ALL ATHLETIC & CHEER UNIFORMS, COSTUMES, SHEET MUSIC, FOLDERS, & CLASSROOM NOVELS IN A BAG. INCUDE AN 8 ½ X 11 PAPER WITH STUDENT’S NAME, I.D. #, GRADE, and ART AREA in THE BAG.
  • DO NOT PLACE TEXTBOOKS IN A BAG & DO NOT RETURN COMSUMABLE TEXTBOOKS

 Materials to Return:

 BAND & STRINGS MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS (IF APPLICABLE) - Place in trunk or backseat of car

 ATHLETIC UNIFORMS/CHEERLEADING UNIFORMS or VOCAL COSTUME (red dress): PLACE MUSIC IN FOLDER AND PLACE IN BAG WITH & A PAPER WITH THE STUDENT’S NAME & I.D

ALL STUDENTS RETURN TEXTBOOKS (Hardcover Textbook): DO NOT PLACE IN BAG

  • US History
  • English Language Arts (ELA) and/or Grammar
  • Spanish I and Spanish II
  • French I and French II
  • Dance

Classroom Novels/ Library Books: Place in bag

ALL STRINGS STUDENTS - One or Two Folders

  • PLACE FOLDER(s) IN BAG WITH & A PAPER WITH THE STUDENT’S NAME & I.D)

 ALL VOCAL STUDENTS - SHEET MUSIC:

  • Felt and Carey - novels
  • Any library books that were checked out
  • PLACE MUSIC IN FOLDER AND PLACE IN BAG WITH & A PAPER WITH THE STUDENT’S NAME & I.D)

DO NOT RETURN CONSUMABLE TEXTBOOK - Softcover that you write in: science & math

Laptop & Power Cord:

  • ONLY RETURN, if you are NOT going to Palm Beach County PUBLIC High School
  • Return the laptop and power cord – place a sheet in laptop with the student’s name, I.D., & grade

PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT THE SCHOOL or SEND AN EMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND. AS STATED PREVIOUSLY, THIS DATE WAS SELECTED BY THE DISTRICT AND NO OTHER DATES HAVE BEEN SCHEDULED.
