SY27 Mandatory Summer Assignments: English Language Arts (ELA) & Math
The Bak Mandatory Summer Assignments are for students attending Bak for the 2026-27 school year (SY27). The assignments and requirements listed below are mandatory - students are responsible for the assigned work/knowledge/skills. Students will receive a grade for the summer assignments and will have various assessments/tests based on the requirements for each grade level. Students wait until they come to school to get guidance from their teachers on how/when to submit or bring in their assignments.
The mandatory English Language Arts (ELA) Reading assignment requires students to read a book of their choice and complete the assignment. These books can be found at your local library, downloaded or purchased online, or purchased at various locations (e.g., Amazon, Barnes & Noble). Choose the paperback version as this will cost 5.00 to 9.00 dollars.
The mandatory Math assignments are what students should have learned in past math courses. These lessons require students to demonstrate what they know, understand, and are able to do - these are prerequisite math skills for the upcoming course. These are BASIC math skills for the course. CALCULATORS MAY NOT BE USED (except for geometry).

- Students who will be entering 8th grade in the 2026-27 School Year Must Complete the following ELA Assignment: SY27 8th Grade ELA Summer Reading Assignment
Mandatory - Math Summer Assignments
These lessons require students to demonstrate what they know, understand, and are able to do; these are prerequisite math skills for the upcoming course. These are BASIC math skills for the course. CALCULATORS MAY NOT BE USED (except for geometry).
- Students who completed 5th grade regular math in SY26 (2025-26 school year) must complete the following Math Assignment: SY27 6th Grade Regular & Accelerated Math Summer Assignment
- Students who completed 6th grade regular math in SY26 (2025-26 school year) must complete the following Math Assignment: SY27 7th Grade Regular Math Summer Assignment
- Students who completed 6th AMP in 5th grade or 6th grade accelerated math in SY26 (2025-26 school year) must complete the following Math Assignment: SY27 7th Grade Accelerated & 8th Grade Pre-Algebra Summer Math Assignment
- Students who completed 7th grade regular math in SY26 (2025-26 school year) must complete the following Math Assignment: SY27 7th Grade Accelerated & 8th Grade Pre-Algebra Summer Math Assignment
- Students who completed 7th grade accelerated math or 8th grade Pre-Algebra in SY26 (2025-26 school year) must complete the following Math Assignment: SY27 Algebra 1 Honors Summer Math Assignment
- Students who completed Algebra I Honors in SY26 (2025-26 school year) must complete the following Math Assignment: SY27 Geometry Summer Math Assignment
